Flow Club is a community that has become one of my preferred online resources. Although there are numerous similar communities available, I somehow stumbled upon FC, which has had a profound impact on how I approach studying, working, and even mundane tasks like cleaning or doing dishes, where external motivation is necessary.
Flow Club is a wonderfully straightforward yet remarkably effective tool! Essentially, you join a session that can last for 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes. A host warmly welcomes you and up to 7 other participants. Each person shares what they intend to work on during the designated time, wishes everyone good luck, and then mutes their speakers. You proceed with your tasks, and once the time is up, the host brings everyone back together to discuss their progress.
Sounds simple, right? It absolutely is. But does it actually work? Absolutely!!! This method combines the principles of body doubling and accountability. Someone else is working alongside you (even if they are located on the other side of the world), and because you have verbally expressed your goals for the allotted time, you now feel responsible for completing them.
Did I mention how much this has improved my study habits since I discovered it? And the best part is, once I’ve finished my sessions, it’s much easier for my mind to relax, even if only for a little while.
Just to clarify, I am not affiliated with this tool or any others. I simply wholeheartedly recommend this or any similar tool!
But if you do join Flow Club, we might meet each other in a session one day!
